Can I put a plaque on a bench?
It depends on who owns the bench. Answer one question to see what to do next, whether you want a plaque on an existing bench or to dedicate a new one.
Where is the bench?
Go through the council’s dedication scheme
Benches in parks, on seafronts and on public land belong to the council. Most only accept plaques ordered through their own scheme, which sets the size, material and wording limits, and unofficial plaques are often removed. Contact the council’s parks or bereavement services team.
Ask the cemetery or crematorium first
Cemeteries and crematoria usually have their own memorial rules, and plaques are often leased for a fixed number of years. Ask their office what’s allowed. If they let you supply your own plaque, we can engrave it to their specification.
Yes, you can order directly from us
If the bench is yours, you can order a plaque straight away. Choose a size, send us the wording and we’ll email a proof.

Clubs, schools, churches and businesses can usually agree a plaque directly. Get the go-ahead from whoever manages the grounds, then send us the wording. We can match existing plaques on the same bench.
