A little metal polish brings the shine back. ## Brass or stainless steel? For an exposed or coastal spot, or if nobody will be polishing it, stainless steel stays bright with almost no care. Yes, over time. Brass naturally darkens outdoors unless it’s polished, and many families like the way it mellows. If you’d rather it stayed bright with no care, choose stainless steel. How do I clean a brass plaque? Use a little metal polish on a soft cloth, then buff it dry. Avoid scouring pads, which scratch the surface and the engraving. What size brass plaque do I need? An 8 x 3 inch plaque fits about 3–4 lines and a 6 x 4 inch plaque about 4–5 lines. The plaque designer shows how your wording fits each size. Do brass plaques come with screws? Yes. Plaques with screw holes come with stainless steel screws, so they won’t stain the wood. ## More bench plaques - [Stainless steel bench plaques](https://grimesengravers.com/stainless-steel-bench-plaques/) - [Memorial bench plaques for mum and dad](https://grimesengravers.com/memorial-bench-plaque-for-mum-and-dad/) - [Pet memorial bench plaques](https://grimesengravers.com/pet-memorial-bench-plaques/) - [All memorial bench plaques](https://grimesengravers.com/memorial-bench-plaques/) ## See your plaque before you order Try your wording, size and font in the designer, then send it for a quote within 24 hours.
